A fond farewell to a friend
Today is a day I've been dreading: CBGB's closes its doors tonight with one final show by the peerless Patti Smith -- an ending fitting for the start, indeed.
A great friend of mine is there (can't imagine her being anywhere else, even if the Mets' season is on the line), and she just sent me a few quick pics that I wanted to share as a reminder, and a remembrance:

Raise a glass to the place tonight, won't you all? Without CBs and the music it showcased for the world, one hell of alot of us wouldn't be here, period.
